DEATH STARS!
Ok, dying stars. Some more planetary nebula. Again not the best images as they're residuals from some science images I'm taking for school (no to mention is was a couple of days before full moon). I need to image several more, but the weather isn't cooperating at the moment. Hopefully things clear up by next weekend.
First is NGC 2371, a planetary nebula about 4400 light years from Earth. To me it looks a bit like a candy in a wrapper (easier to see in the monochrome image).
NGC 2371 - 14 minutes L, 4 minutes each R,G,B
NGC 2371 - L channel only
Second IC 418. Sometimes called the spirograph nebula due to it's internal structure (though that's not evident in this image). It's located about 2000 light years from Earth.
IC 418 - 4 minutes each L,R,G and B.
