Harper channeling Sarah Palin
" If the hon. member wants a vote, let the people of her riding and the people loyal to this country right across this country vote for this country."
It would seem that Harper believes that anyone that doesn't vote for him doesn't like Canada. Kind of reminicent of Sarah Palin's "Real Americans" speech.
Yet another piece of evidence that Harper takes his cues from the US Republicans. Not just the Republicans, but the worst of the Republicans. Even Palin was forced to backtrack on her comments because it was costing her party support. Harper on the other hand is full steam ahead with wrapping himself in the flag and calling those who oppose him names. It's never been so clear how much the Harper Tories hate democracy. Anyone who opposes Harper and his minority government which enjoys the support of a minority of Canadians apparently isn't loyal to this country or presumably in Harper's mind, a "real" Canadian.
Well Mr. Harper let me tell you something. I don't support you or your government. In this I am in the majority of voters. According to you this means I'm not a "loyal" Canadian. Well Stephen let me tell you something: you're full of crap. Unlike you I've served this country as a reservist for the past 21 years. Did you have the intestinal fortitude to do even one day in uniform? No. I have not spent a day of my life proposing things that would tear this country apart such as building firewalls around provinces or fanning the flames of regional alienation, can you, Stephen, say the same thing? No, of course not. So if by your actions the definition a "loyal" Canadian is someone who advocates the tearing apart of the country by someone who couldn't even spend part of his time to serve that country, then I guess I'm not a real Canadian. Thankfully the definition of a Canadian isn't defined by you or your actions and hopefully your opinion won't matter in a couple of weeks in any event.
