And We're Off!!!
Well Ed Stelmach's done it, he's dropped the writ. So we're in a provincial election with the date for the balloting set for the 3rd of March. That means that I'm off on the hustings as well so if I don't get to posting here as often you know why. It should be an interesting election. Ed Stelmach is running under the shadow of Ralph Klein. This is a lose-lose situation for Stelmach. First, he has none of Kleins charisma, so that is removed from the equation. Stelmach has also inherited the complete lack of planning of the Klein regime so now has to live in that shadow as well. This isn't helping his poll numbers, generally being driven down to Harry Strom levels. Further polls suggest that the Alberta voter is wanting change, though is uncertain of what that change should look like. Of course I'd like to be the beneficiary of that change.
It will be interesting to see the outcome, not just where I'm running in Calgary-Egmont, but everywhere in the province. There is little doubt that the Tories will lose seats, but will they lose enough to move into minority territory or out of government entirely. Time will tell.
Well that's that for now, so if you live in Calgary-Egmont.... would you take a sign?
